BYB Metro, Envisioned as the “BGC of the North”

BYB Metro or Bayambang Metro, a P2.5 billion-worth commercial-residential township project, spanning 67 hectares adjacent to the Saint Vincent Ferrer Prayer Park in Bani, Bayambang, is set to become a reality with a groundbreaking ceremony held on June 24, 2024.

This project is the brainchild of former Mayor, Dr. Cezar T. Quiambao, inspired by his dream to transform the municipality into a primary economic hub of southern Pangasinan. The project aims to boost the local economy, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for Bayambangueños.

The groundbreaking ceremony commenced with a mass, followed immediately by a short program featuring messages from key individuals involved in the project.

Celedonio Pile Jr., the President of Exceldon Consulting, Inc., passionately assured everyone that Dr. Quiambao will complete this monumental project within the specified timeframe. Drawing a powerful comparison, he highlighted their previous triumph in Indonesia, a colossal 2,000-hectare endeavor. “2000 hectares [in Indonesia] versus 67 hectares [referring to the BYB project]. Kayang-kaya ito!” he exclaimed.

BYB Metro will be constructed in two phases. The first phase, the Commercial Business District, will include a shopping mall, restaurants, and an amusement park. The second phase will feature residential subdivisions designed to provide modern living spaces for the community.

But what wowed the audience was the Blue Sky theme park, which will feature a 50-meter-high Ferris wheel and a roller coaster as the main attractions, which are expected to open in November this year.

The groundbreaking ceremony was graced by several notable figures, led of course by former Mayor, Dr. Quiambao, and his wife, current Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao, affectionately called the “Mother of Bayambang.”

The event marks a significant milestone in the development of Bayambang, highlighting the municipality’s commitment to progress and modernization. Local officials, business leaders, and community members also attended, underscoring the broad support for this visionary, transformative project. (by Sheina Mae U. Gravidez/RSO; photos: Jayvee M.
